\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I thought I would post this on our NLD Blog.\u00a0 I had the wonderful opportunity to share this message with a women’s group in Douglasville on Valentine’s Day.\u00a0 They were so warm and receptive and I appreciated the opportunity to share\u00a0some time with them for the sake of the Kingdom of God.\u00a0 Check out the five teaching points below entitled “Our Spiritual\u00a0Inheritance\u00a0In Christ Jesus”.<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>In Christ, you are spiritually one with Him \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I Corinthians 6:17<\/strong> says, \u201cBut the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Not only did Christ die for you, but you died with<\/span> Christ.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cKnowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him\u2026\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>Romans 6:6; Cf. Gal. 2:20 <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, you were also buried<\/span> with Him, raised<\/span> with Him, and have even ascended <\/span>with Him.\u00a0 <\/span>Romans 6:4; Ephesians 2:5-6<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span>This has radical implication for your spiritual life!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>In Christ, you are free from the authority of sin <\/span><\/strong>\u2013<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The old man is now out of the picture:\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cknowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.\u00a0 <\/span>For he who has died has been freed from sin\u201d\u00a0 Praise the Lord – We don’t have to sin anymore – there is complete freedom in Christ! \u00a0Romans 6:6<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What liberating truth.\u00a0 <\/span>John 8:32 \u201cAnd you will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free.\u201d<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>In Christ, you are a partaker of His resurrection life<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNow if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him\u2026For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, he lives to God.\u00a0 <\/span>Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin<\/span>, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord\u201d Romans 6:8; 10-11.<\/strong>\u00a0 Does a dead man talk?\u00a0 Does a dead man interact with life and friends?\u00a0 NO…HE’S DEAD!\u00a0 We are to consider ourselves\u00a0DEAD to sin!\u00a0 <\/span>This resurrection life is our resource for living victoriously Ephesians 1:16-21.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>4.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>In Christ, you have a new identity \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Although you still have a relative identity based on your gender, race, personality, family status, etc., these are now secondary:\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cFor you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.\u00a0 <\/span>For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.\u00a0 <\/span>There is neither Jew, nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one<\/span> in Christ Jesus \u201c Galatians 3:26-28.<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span>Since your essential identity is based on spiritual rebirth, you are called a believer, a royal priesthood, a fellow citizen with the saints, a member of God\u2019s house hold, an ambassador for Christ, and His workmanship!\u00a0 <\/span>I Peter 2:9; Ephesians 2:9-10, 2 Cor. 5:20.<\/strong>\u00a0 “How great a love that the Father has lavished<\/strong> on us that we should be called Children of God and that is what we are.”\u00a0 I John 3:1.<\/strong>\u00a0 When our mind is renewed with Truth t<\/span>his inspires us to dignified words and actions that adorn the doctrine of the grace of God.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>5.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>In Christ, you have a new nature \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)<\/strong> “What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons.\u00a0 They are not the same anymore, for the old\u00a0life is gone.\u00a0 A new life has begun!”\u00a0<\/span>As Paul testified, \u201cFor I delight in the law of God according to the inward man<\/em><\/strong>\u201d Romans 7:22.<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span>Living righteously corresponds with the real you. \u201cWhoever has been born of God does not sin, for His (God\u2019s) seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God\u201d I John<\/strong> 3:9.<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span>Since a good tree cannot bear bad fruit, sinful desires are attributed to the flesh.\u00a0 <\/span>This carnal aspect of the soul is in us, but it is not us.\u00a0 <\/span>Does this sound like theological hair-splitting?\u00a0 <\/span>Apparently not to the apostle Paul.\u00a0 <\/span>According to Romans 7:20, <\/strong>he specified: \u201cNow if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me\u201d Romans 7:20<\/strong>.\u00a0 <\/span>Of course, this does not excuse our responsibility for our actions.\u00a0 <\/span>Yet, it is reassuring to know that your essential nature (spirit) is holy and completely on God\u2019s side.\u00a0 <\/span>When the believer is born again, God\u2019s DNA (so to speak) is placed into his human spirit.\u00a0 <\/span>To use Peter\u2019s phrase, we have been made \u201cpartakers of the divine nature\u201d 2 Peter 1:4.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

Isn’t this great news\u00a0that enables\u00a0glorious living!!\u00a0 It literally is a “NEW LIFE DESIGN”!!\u00a0 Praise the Lord – He changes the way we think<\/strong> in order to change the way we feel<\/strong> in order to change the way we behave.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
